Kate - Founder,  owner and Spanish Tutor

Amy - French Tutor

I’m Kate, an ex primary school teacher and mummy of 2 gorgeous girls – one who started school herself this September. My own children turned out to be my inspiration for starting Lingo Lions; while on maternity leave with my eldest daughter I took her to a variety of baby classes, all very similar, and I thought – I can do this! I needed to carve out my niche in a heavily saturated market.  So, I took the plunge into self employment in 2018, launching my children's language business Lingo Lions. Having gained a love of Spanish myself at school, studying up to A-level, and continuing my love of Spanish throughout my adult life (luckily my sister, Spanish Brother in Law and nieces live in Mallorca -meaning I get to go there a lot!). I teach Spanish (using La Jolie Ronde methodology) across Norfolk in fun, interactive groups starting with little babies all the way up to 11 year olds. I believe language is a life skill, opens doors, broadens horizons, and instils a life long love of language, culture and travel.  I love seeing children playing with the language and enjoying learning new words and phrases. They love singing the songs and soon start to enjoy using the language at home – I’ve had some children writing their first ever words in Spanish and asking to watch their favourite DVDs in Spanish too!

In December 2018 I was thrilled to be announced as the winner in the “New Business Category” of the Norfolk, Pregnancy, Baby and Child awards! I teach the award winning La Jolie Ronde Programmes; they have been teaching children for 35 years and have won again (for the 5th year in a row) the top award for “Best National Activity for 5-12 years olds” in 2018, voted for by parents in the International “What’s on 4” awards.

I love the flexibility  I have now to work around my young family, use my skills, get my teaching fix (after leaving my career as a primary school teacher) and give children the opportunity to learn a new language at a vital age. I believe that the earlier a child learns a language, the easier they find it and the more successful they are.

I'm Amy, a mother of two boisterous boys and a French and Spanish teacher. After having lived abroad and as a language teacher, I realise the importance of learning another language and the opportunities it can give you. It is so much easier to learn another language if you are exposed to it at a young age and are able to learn in a fun and interactive way. My eldest son is 7 years old and when he was a toddler I was eager to take him to a language group but I couldn't find anything in Norwich. When I had my second child six years later, I was so happy to hear about Lingo Lions; finally a local Spanish baby group! My son started the 0-3 class when he was just 4 months old. I loved Kate's fun and engaging classes and my son took it all in. We sing the songs at home and my 7 year old quickly learnt the words and joins in too. When Kate realised the demand for French, I thought it would be a great opportunity to start enthusing younger children about languages. I'm delighted to be joining Lingo Lions and I am very much looking forward to meeting the children starting my French classes in September.

À tout à l'heure!
